this is crazy

Here is something to try at your next party.

Pop Corn téléphone portable micro-ondes
Uploaded by sassiere

This video shows people using cell phones to pop corn. How crazy is that?

No explanation that I can see. If there is one, it is in French.

I think this is a demonstration of how much microwave radiation if give off from a cell phone. This is what they are always talking about the 'radiation' exposure that your brain gets when a cell phone is used. Cell phones operate in the microwave region of the electromagnetic spectrum. So what we get isn't the same as the ionizing radiation from radioactive elements, or medical x-rays. More like a leaking microwave oven that we sleep next to.

The microwaves heat the water in the popcorn which turns to steam and pops the corn. Our brains don't get fried as there is a LOT more water in them, and it is getting moved around by the blood that circulates through it. But I don't know what kind of effect this would have long term.

That is FREAKY, but I feel better about it after your husband's explanation (thanks Sailor!).

Still, I'm glad that I use less than 10 minutes per month talking on my cell phone.

Wow....
