New Mailbox
We finally finished the mailboxes.
I got my idea from Muddy Boot Dream's blog. She had taken the pictures of her neighborhood, and I just fell in LOVE. I couldn't think of anything else, except for making this cute little planter for my mailboxes. They were getting pretty shoddy.
The before picture has a black bow tied around the post (made from trash bags) to honor a fallen Police officer back in January. But it was falling off after 6 months.
My neighbor had been talking about making a cement one, and one with rocks surrounding the whole thing, but I just didn't want rocks. It doesn't go with our house. We are more of a "picket fence" type of house with blue siding and dark blue trim. I matched our house then I matched the neighbor's house, which is green.
We just got it all finished today. A perfect day to mess with mailboxes, since the post office is closed.
It's fun to finish a project. I first spray painted the red flags (which you can't see-sorry). When those were dry, I masked them by slitting open a used legal envelope and sliding it over the flags and spraying all around with white. Then I made the vinyl lettering with my Silhouette machine on the front with our names and addresses. My sweet husband built the little picket fence and painted the bird houses. I had a neighbor build the bird houses, he makes a LOT of things. But I realized too late that my husband could have made them much better. He was just so busy, I didn't want to bother him. You should see his garden in the back yard!
Thanks Sweet Friend for all you do. xoxoxo

I think that they are adorable!
What a cute idea, I love how you expanded on the theme, and made it yours.

Good to see a post up -- you have been awfully busy I see - I really love your mail box -- great idea - and they look beautiful -- can't wait to drive by the next time I am in town to see this...awesome job!
...just darling! What a great job you did!
Looks like you've been very busy. The mailboxes are really cute. Like you, I've been so busy this summer. I hardly have time to post, let along comment on blogs. Maybe I'll get better in the fall when things slow down.
so very cute mailboxes!
Your mailboxes turned out so cute! What a fun idea!
