if you make something with this tutorial leave a comment with a link to your blog so we can all see your good works!

This is a blanket pattern with mitered corners.

I make this every once in a while and in between times, I lose the pattern. I finally scanned and and am putting it onto my blog so I don't lose it anymore!
I hope it is readable
I think you can click on the image and get a really clear view.

Hi Annie, Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog and of course leaving such a kind comment. I noticed you just got a new car. I hope you are enjoying your new ride! I also notice that you are a singer...I am too! I love to sing and I have sung on many choirs, our church worship team and several community plays and musicals. I am a soprano however! I hope to hear from you again...and I will be sure to stop back to see what you are up to as well!

Stay Cozy, Carrie

Mitered corners put me crazy. I'm a hopeless seamstress these days. Sigh.

This is my favorite receiving blanket. I have just made four of them to put away for my daughter someday. I use the scraps for small burp cloths using the same technique. These mitered corners are the easiest. Just one more thing we have in common.

Thanks for the great pattern! I noticed it was from Creekside. I loved that store and was so sad when they went out of business.

Hi Annie -

I have been googling for the past two days trying to find a u-tube video or pattern for this particular flannel recieving blanket. I luckily came across your blog - thanks for sharing it! I am not an expert sewer however, and the pattern still leaves out steps for a beginner like me. If you have any time at all, would you be willing to go into more step by step detail on how to make this blanket? I would really appreciate it!!!

Thanks -

HI Anne, I"ve been searching for this pattern for over a year. Thanks for posting. One big question is canI do this with a blanket that isn't square. I'm working with blocks of minki that were sewn original to form a small quilted blanket but my daughter decided she didn't want it quilted for the twins so I thought it might work??? Thanks so much.

Hi Sandy, Thanks for visiting my blog. In answer to your question, you can do it with any size quilt or blanket, square or rectangle. Just as long as the borders of the backing is equally larger than the blanket top. For example, in the original pattern, if your quilt top measures 36" x 36" and the backing measures 45" x 45", the back is 4.5" inches larger on all sides. So for the quilt you are making make your backing 9" bigger than the size of your quilt. So if your quilt measures 45" x 70", then make the backing 54" x 79". Does that make sense?

If you have any further questions please be sure I have an email, so we can communicate.

Best of luck and send me a link to your blog and show off your quilt. I'd love to see it.
