Mamma Mia!

Oh What fun we had tonight. Things happen here and we find ourselves looking at each other and saying, "Only in our small town."
Tonight is an example of that. We went to see Mamma Mia at the theater. I saw it several years ago in New York on Broadway and it was so fun. Everyone was singing along and dancing half the time. The only seats available were standing. We only paid $21 and had so much fun. Most of the people jumped up and stood during the show anyway. It was amazing. We saw it again in Salt Lake. I don't remember it being anything spectacular, but the songs always get you tapping.
But tonight was so fun. First I was surprised to see the words on the screen. They are encouraging you to sing along and I couldn't help myself. I heard people singing behind me as well. But when Dancing Queen came on suddenly this little group who had all come decked out in boas and great dancing outfits started dancing in the isles. They danced down the right side isle, then in front then up the left side. It was so delightful to see this group of adults and children, all girls having so much fun. If I hadn't been so self conscious, I might have jumped up and joined them. As it was I was delighted to watch them dance. The smallest, maybe she was 3 years old, kept dancing. Whenever a song came on, she danced. When she got to the front, you could barely see her tiny head above the seats, and once in a while she would twirl or put her hands above her head. It was so fun. Sailor said once, "I'd give $100 for a camera right now." She was so delightful, we forgot to watch the movie sometimes.
This movie was here on opening night, and we had something going on that didn't give us a chance to see it. I was so sad. When I saw it back on the marquee last week, I was so happy, but life has been so busy up until tonight. I got all the grapes done, and I worked my tail off to be sure they were done, the blessing dress is done (see next post) and I have a short break before everything gets busy again. It was really fun to just go watch a movie. Neither of us can remember the last time we went to the theater. I had so much fun!
When it comes out in DVD, you can be sure, even though Pierce doesn't do so great singing, I am going to buy a copy. It just makes me happy.

It was a fun date, and a fun show.

I saw "Mama Mia" twice in London and couldn't wait for the movie. Gotta love Meryl Streep!

Fun! I've always wanted to see Mama Mia. The play would be fun to go to but I'd see it on dvd. Love seeing people who are so "in to" something like this - dancing in the aisles. :D

I can't wait to see the movie! I've heard that it's just a joy. Sounds like the play was even more fun than the movie because of the audience participation.

And yes, I wish Sailor had brought his camera. ;)
